The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. Central Luzon Region Librarians Council, in cooperation with Holy Angel University, is pleased to invite you to a forum on "Libraries and Librarians: their roles as tools for research" on August 29, 2008, Friday, 8:00 A.M. at Holy Angel Library, Angeles City, Pampanga. Invited resource speaker is Dr. Felixberto M. Mercado, Director, Research and Publication Center, Manuel Enverga University Foundation, Lucena City.

The forum aims to provide librarians, teacher-librarians, students and other information managers a much clearer understanding of the roles of libraries and librarians in the current learning and research environment.

There will be a registration fee of P200.00 for librarians, teacher-librarians, and other information managers and P100.00 for students to cover certificates and snacks.

The Philippine Society of Librarians and Information Specialists in coordination with the Integrated Society of Information Professionals of the Philippines (ISIPP) will have a seminar-workshop on "Information and Library Centers Value added Service: e-library and Content Management" at La Elliana Hotel, Laoag City on July 25-27, 2008. TThe seminar-workshop aims to: provide the participants with the knowledge on the latest development and upcoming trends in libraries and information centers; Cope up with the changing IT environment; Provide added value to the organization / institution they serve; Re-direct their respective libraries into a knowledge-based, service oriented and client-focused information resource centers;Expose participants to, and establish linkage with various libraries, museums, information centers and other information resource centers; and, Translate invested costs into knowledge and service.

Librarians and library staff, Information professionals, records and administrative officers and staff, as well as IT personnel are invited to attend this PSLIS program on continuing education. The programincludes educational tour to various libraries, museums, information and historical places in Vigan and Ilocos Norte.

Registration fee of P5,000.00 is inclusive of one night and 2 days Hotel accommodation (quadruple sharing) with meals, transportation fare from Manila to La Elliana Hotel, study tour and entrance fee,handout journal, seminar kit, fellowship cocktails and certificate of participation.Registration is on going.. Greetings!The Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarians (PAARL) in cooperation with the Association of Booksellers for the Academe and the Professions (ABAP) will hold a forum entitled "Reviewing Standards of Library Resources Management" on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 1:30 to 4:30 P.M. at the MegaTrade Hall 1, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.

This forum shall provide a venue to discuss the current issues and concerns of library and information managers on the aspects of developing and managing library resources in line with the standards of CHED and other accrediting agencies.

Dr. Heracleo D. Lagrada, Director, Office of Programs and StandardsCommission on Higher Education is invited to be the Resource Speaker and share his views and knowledge of the topic.

Ramos, also supervised a memorial library, came to PNU from barrio library work, where he managed three libraries and adult classes for Trinity College of Quezon City-Sagada Special Academic Program for 3 years. He started as a teacher-librarian (E. Abada High School, DCS, Manila) in 1992, became an instructor-librarian for six years (St. Louis College of Valenzuela City), and previously college librarian of the Education & Periodicals Section of PNU, 2008 president to PNU-LISAA, Inc., now conference chair to Every Librarian's Association, PAARL, Inc He earned academic units both for Master in Public Administration and Master in Educational Management. Presently, he is enrolled in MAED with Library Science as specialization at PNU and used to work in the IRS of DLSU-Manila and now associate librarian to its Archives services.
