Association (PNULISAA), invite you to a Seminar-Workshop on Archives: Bringing
Past to Present for Good Governance (Series 1 of 3) on May 4-6, 2011 at the CSB

Hotel International Conference Center, Arellano Avenue cor. Estrada Street,
Malate, Manila.

This seminar-workshop aims to: (1) Provide an introduction on how to start an
archives and introduce the principles, common practices and current
developments in archival arrangement and description; (2) Ensure the longevity
of the collection and sustainability of Archives; (3) Protect vital information
in time of disaster; (4) Know the advantages and understand the importance of
digitization in the Archives; and, (5) Ensure compliance with legal
requirements governing copyright, reproduction and access.
Seminar topics include: (1) Starting an Archives: Arrangement and
Description; (2) Managing an Archives: a Case Study; (3) Preservation of
Audio-Visual Materials: An Introduction; (4)Institutional Repositories :
Issues on Access and Confidentiality; (5) Preservation and Conservation of Print
Materials; (6) Preservation of Paintings and Other Museum Pieces; and
(7)Disaster Preparedness.

A seminar fee of Php 4,000.00 will be charged to the participants to cover
registration fee, meals, seminar kit, certificates, and archives/museum tour
(scheduled on the third day).

The organizers will be giving away more than 10 titles of Filipiniana materials
for free to the first 30 participants who will register on or before April 20,
2011.

April 4-6, 2011 Hands-on training on Archives and Records Management

Dear Colleagues,

The Rizal Library of the Ateneo de Manila University is conducting a hands-on training on Archives and Records Management on April 4-6, 2011 from 9 am to 5 pm at the Rizal Library Special Collections Building. The training aims to enable the participants to:

1. Learn through experience the difference and similarities about archives and records management;
2. Learn the basic preservation measures and reformatting options;
3. Acquire knowledge in selection, retention, and disposition of archival materials; and
4. Apply both trends and standards in archival and records management in your own organization.

The fee for the training program is PhP 3000 to cover the kit, 6 snacks, 3 lunches and other expenses. Checks may be made in the name of the Ateneo de Manila University.

May 19, 2011 “Ethics 2.0: Managing Ethics in the Library”

The PLAI-Central Luzon Region Librarians Council in cooperation with the University of the Assumption, is scheduled to conduct a forum entitled “Ethics 2.0: Managing Ethics in the Library” on May 19, 2011, from eight thirty in the morning to twelve noon (8:30am-12:00nn) at the High School Audio Visual Room, University of the Assumption, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. Registration starts at 7:30am.

This activity aims to discuss the salient provisions of the Revised Librarians’ Code of Ethics (BFL Resolution No. 6, s. 2006) and pertinent issues affecting the profession.

Registration fee of P200.00 for both members and non-members, and P150.00 for students of Library and Information Science, will be charged to cover the resource speaker’s fee, certificates and snacks.

The Philippine Theological Librarians Association (PTLA) in partnership with the Forum of Asian Theological Librarians (ForATL) is pleased to invite you to attend the Seminar-Workshop on “ Theological Library and Archive Management in a Changing Environment Part 2: 17th PTLA Conference” to be held on April 6-8, 2011 at the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary (PBTS), Baguio City.

1. To learn archives organization and management from different perspectives.
2. To learn how to implement and maintain an archive program and the preservation of its resources.

April 13-15, 2011 Raising the Standards: Strategies in Record-Keeping

Dear Sir/Madam:

The Society of Filipino Archivists will hold a Seminar-Workshop on Raising the Standards: Strategies in Record-Keeping on April 13-15, 2011 at Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center, 101 General Luna St., Iloilo City. This is in response to the need of public and private institutions in record-keeping. It is our goal that after this training, the participants will be able to:

1. Understand the basic concepts of ISO 15489: International Standard on Records Management;
2. Know some stategies in record-keeping vis-a-vis current practices and standards; and,
3. Apply record-keeping principles and best practices to ensure that their respective records management programs are in accordance to generally accepted standards.

As no office could operate successfully without accurate and accessible records, we would like to enjoin you and your staff, archivists, records officers, administrative officers/staff, registrars, office clerks, librarians, museum archivists, secretaries and other professionals handling records involved in keeping and controlling records to attend this seminar-workshop. The fee is ₱6,000.00 for live-in participants inclusive of registration; accomodation (April 13, 2:00 p.m. – April 15, 12:00 noon); meals (April 13, a.m. snacks – April 15, p.m. snacks); instructional materials, kit and other administrative expenses. He started as a teacher-librarian (E.
